What If...

A few days back there was a news about a man smuggling 6 eggs (of rare species) out of Australia to surprise his girlfriend in Bangkok. He had hidden the eggs in his underwear. Just one curious thought, what if the eggs had hatched there??? ;) Errr.. just a thought. Ok? Damn with my innocent wicked top floor. ;)

The Life After

There was blockage of several sites including our favourite Blogspot for nearly 8 days under so-called directive of Ministry of Communication or IT ministry or whatever. Every single person who was involved with blog world in any way was annoyed, angered & saddened. It looked like we were living in countries like Iran, China etc. It was a blow to our freedom of speech & expression in a free, democratic country like India. What was that, Internet censorship or censorship on freedom of expression? We still don’t know.

But then it was somewhat needed in the wake of blasts. The GOI wanted to curtail the culprits. I agree with them but they should have used other more specific, simpler methods instead of harassing (bugging) the blogging public this way.

And poor little me?? Well, I had just thought of talking aloud, had posted my first ever post on web and to my utter surprise I couldn’t even see how my blog looked like!!! My first impression was that I had not posted it correctly cursing myself on being so dumb; the second was that the site is under maintenance. This was a little bit relaxing compared to the first one. ;) Immediately after posting my first post, I received a comment from a certain anonymous (Godsend?) whose comments are the sole ones till date. Long Live Anonymous for encouraging me!!

Next day I posted one more, still could not see anything. How could the site be under maintenance for more than 24 hours, that too without any news from their side? My posts were getting successfully published! But what was the use if I was not able to see them let alone the world! I was getting a little frantic. Went to Blogger’s Help, came to know there were hundreds like me. I was relaxed. :) I was not alone. Just for the heck of it, I posted a one-liner on the third day again. One person from the blogger’s help group said he could see my blog sitting in Delhi. I envied him.

I decided not to post anything till the issue gets resolved.

And today I have started posting again.

World cup and Zizou

Finally the world cup has come to end. Good-bye sleepless nights. Good-bye junk food. Good-bye Luis Figo, Hernan Crespo, Oliver Kahn. And oh yes, good-bye Zinedine Zidane.

This World Cup had a funny way of choosing its winner. Eliminate the cream and crown the icing. The debutants had come with conviction. First down was Czech Rep., beaten back by Ghana. Then came USA. Ghana was having the time of their lives. The next big teams to bow out were Brazil and Argentina. Hmmm.. How can I forget England?
So then, France, Italy, Germany and not so convincing Portugal marched ahead. As someone said rightly, it was bound to become a European World Cup.

Then at this stage, I figured that it was high time to change my favorite team, Brazil. So then, France got all my support. And in the finals… it all went topsy-turvy (including me;)). From 1-1 in the allotted and extra time, Les Bleus went down unbelievably. I was quite confident of France’s triumph over the cup though there was no doubt about Italy’s solid defense. But but but … But no, unlike others I don’t blame Zizou, the hero. He’s still one of my heroes like before, let people say what they want to. He is after all a human before a footballer. No sensible man can ever tolerate maa-behen ki gaali.

Before also he had shown his emotions while playing and had once incurred a 5-match ban, the time he head-butted Jochen Keintz in 2000. It had been said that he can “erupt into shocking violence that is as sudden as it is inexplicable”.

Zidane said once, “It’s hard to get me over the top. But when I’m over it, you’re over.”

Sometimes I feel that it was a high level politics played by Materazzi to oust Zidane from the game at that crucial stage. How cheap, if that was so!! What a way to say good-bye to a fellow sportsperson. Zizou, I am with you.

To My Inspiration

Never in my life had I imagined that one day I’d write on the web. I used to write (scribble something to talk to myself) in a diary once upon a time, but this way? No, never. Thanks to a person who made the difference and today I am dedicating this blog One From the Cuckoo's Nest to that person… a dear friend who has inspired me a lot in so many ways.

We have lots and lots in common… the type of books we read, the kind of music we listen to, our favourite vacation place, our thinking wavelength… the list goes on.

We had our share of fun, understandings, misunderstandings, fights, secrets, confessions….
We share them all…sports, jokes, problems, thoughts… and I treasure them all.

Thank you my cracked friend, thanks for everything.
